Relatives,

Today, we’re writing with an urgent call to action, so I hope you’ll read this whole email.

Fossil fuel pollution is harming millions of people across the globe, and we know things will only get worse if we don’t transition away from dirty energy immediately.

We can’t allow the era of fossil fuels to continue. That’s why Indigenous and community leaders who are impacted by fracking, pipelines, refineries, and other fossil fuel projects are calling for a historic protest in Washington D.C. this fall. Together, we’re organizing one the largest civil disobedience actions in decades.

Will you come to DC and join us in nonviolent civil disobedience to demand an end to fossil fuels? Sign up today to join this historic action.

The future of our planet is at stake. The water we drink, the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the places we live hang in the balance. Will politicians like President Biden continue to distract and delay and lock us into a century of climate catastrophe? Or will we rapidly shift away from dangerous fossil fuels, avoid the worst impacts of climate change, and create a healthy and just economy that works for everyone?
Despite hearing from millions of people and the world’s leading scientists, President Biden hasn’t stopped dangerous fossil fuel projects like the Line 3 pipeline, and has continued to issue permits for thousands of new oil and gas wells.

We need to send a wake up call to President Biden and the political establishment in DC. Will you join a massive wave of civil disobedience from October 11-15 to demand an end to fossil fuels?

Nonviolent civil disobedience is uniquely effective at focusing attention on a problem, inspiring others to take action, and forcing decision makers to respond to our demands. When sustained over multiple days, the impact is even greater.
Civil disobedience has been used as a tactic in many struggles for justice, including in successful campaigns to stop fossil fuel projects like fracking and the Keystone XL pipeline. It’s hard to imagine winning the current fight against the fossil fuel industry without thousands of people being willing to go to jail.
We know it’s a big request, and not everyone will be able to take time off work, travel to DC, and spend the night in jail. But if you can afford to do this, there couldn’t be a more important time to take action.

If you can, sign up to join us in DC between October 11 and 15. We hope to see you there.

In Solidarity,

The ‘People vs. Fossil Fuels’ organizing team and the Build Back Fossil Free campaign
